Dell Business Development Manager for HPC in Kanagawa, Japan

This position holds an elite level of competence within the enterprise discipline with a strong bent towards practical industry vertical sales enablement.

The High Performance Computing Solutions BDM will have the ability to lead architectural efforts for any customer, regardless of size and scope. As part of an enterprise planning team, the HPC Solutions BDM possesses the knowledge of business requirements as well as an understanding of the many disciplines that make up modern HPC architectures. They will be part of the pre-sales team and will partner with the Enterprise Sales Specialist & Account Executives to ensure success within their territory and region. In addition, the person will be a corporate-wide resource, speaking at and participating in highly visible user events, industry conferences and seminars, and technical groups.

This role is quota-carrying and requires the sales maker to be very entrepreneurial in rapidly growing and scaling the business to its fullest potential.

Role Responsibilities:

• Quota-carrying technical sales resource teamed with one or more Enterprise Technical Sales team members to advance Dell’s HPC solutions and offers presence in the respective region • Hunt and develop customer opportunity and recommend/sell Dell’s HPC solutions spanning industry and research. • Focused on driving in-country/regional sales plan for the HPC solutions portfolio • Establish and cultivate ongoing business relationships with customers and Business Partners to facilitate additional business opportunities. • Conduct and/or participate in product presentations, demos, evaluations and ROI analyses directed at current or prospective channel partners. • Act as technical liaison between partner and Dell on presales situations, solution requirements and future product direction for the partner’s market • Expected to stay current on technology, competitive marketplace & provide constant feedback to BDMs/Solutions Strategists & product groups • Will be a solutions evangelist which will include presales training, presenting to internal stakeholders, sales teams or channel partners. • Advance Dell HPC solutions and business value, increase industry exposure through presentations and speaking engagements across key industry events, establish & foster relationship with global industry.

Requirements:

• 10 years of experience HPC experience in a business development and/or pre-sales engineering capacity with a strong emphasis on driving HPC solutions targeted at various market verticals like manufacturing, life sciences, oil & gas, & weather forecasting. • Familiarity with HPC systems hardware architecture, network interconnect technologies and topologies and be able to effectively communicate the pros and cons to a prospect. • Familiarity with various HPC benchmarks like Linpack, Stream, SpecInt, SpecFP, PTRANS, NAMD, MM5 Weather Model etc • Familiarity with HPC programming tools, compilers, debuggers, profilers and workflows including programming languages like C/C /FORTRAN, parallel programming frameworks like MPI and OpenMP. • Have a working knowledge of parallel file systems like Lustre, GPFS and ZFS and various storage solutions used in HPC systems. • Experience representing a global business unit in the region, owning/driving a regional business development/sales plan is a must • Experience with enterprise customers and experience working with CIO/CTO level is a must • Excellent presentation and communication skills • Strong team player with the ability to collaborate and communicate with complex matrixed teams across the globe • Native level Japanese and Business level English both required

Preferences:  Previous customer focused technical training experience related to workloads, applications and deep understanding of CIO OPEX and CAPEX sizing and operational models.  Bachelors in Engineering, CS/MS/Business or related field equivalent  MBA preferred
