Amazon.com JP Trade Compliance PM in Meguro, Japan

We are looking for a Trade Compliance Program Manager to join our Global Trade Services (GTS) team, part of our Health and Safety, Sustainability, Security and Compliance (HSC3) organization, based at our headquarters in Tokyo, Japan! We are at the cutting edge of Trade Compliance services for both import and export, and support Amazon’s rapidly growing and evolving businesses by supporting the import and export of thousands of items every day for our customers, vendors, sellers, and internal businesses all across globe.

You will support our business with large scale compliance initiatives that require robust import controls, and processes to ensure compliance with the relevant laws and regulations. You will need to coordinate input from multiple business owners and also help design the import program roadmap to rollout new program initiatives and serve as a primary point of contact. From these stakeholders you will gather their requirements, write clear and detailed functional specifications for import controls, and drive the technical scoping and development as a program manager.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES

· Work with Amazon’s Global Trade Services team to execute trade compliance strategies, drive and enforce global import processes, seek automation opportunities, and leverage new technologies

· Drive scalable business solutions with the business stakeholders to ensure compliance with global trade regulations

· Work with manufactures/vendors to set up effective import processes that scale to support businesses

· Monitor regulatory changes related to import

· 10+ years of experience with import compliance and trade controls

· Extensive knowledge in the application of import regulations

· Experience delivering business critical projects that are global in nature, and driving engineering and business teams toward goals

· Strong written and oral communication skills in both Japanese and English

· Experience leveraging technology to drive process improvements

· Experience with Lean Six Sigma or other process improvement tools

· Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience

· Trade Compliance and project management experience, preferably within the manufacturing industry

· Ability to demonstrate sound judgment in ambiguous situations

· Ability to turn complex compliance requirements into scalable processes

· Ability to work under pressure

· Licensed Customs Broker is preferred

· Strong analytical and computer skills
