Amazon.com Manager, Metrics and Analytics in Meguro, Japan

Amazon is seeking an experienced, solution-orientated, Analytics Manager to join Amazon's Customer Support Metrics & Analytics team to get the most out of other critical thinkers and support a rapidly growing and dynamic business, focusing on our popular Digital product suite as well as a dynamic e-commerce retail business. This role will have an immediate influence on day-to-day decision making at Amazon.

The Amazon Customer Support Platform processes thousands of transactions every day across multiple countries and languages. The Metrics & Analytics team stands squarely in the intersection of these systems, helping Amazon and its partners understand what the business did yesterday and influencing where it is going tomorrow. It delivers business intelligence to over hundreds of diverse community of internal customers from one of the world’s largest and most complex data sets. Amazon Metrics & Analytics is a fast paced environment where every day brings new challenges and new opportunities. As Analytics Manager, you will be developing and mentoring analysts and supporting KPIs and deep-dive analysis to address some of the unique challenges in this space. You will be gathering customer insights, mining data, making recommendations and helping Senior leaders make key business decisions.

Responsibilities

Develop and manage other business analysts to drive accurate business decision making.

Design, implement, and support KPIs for Amazon's Customer Service operations.

Interface with support teams, operations and capacity planning to solve challenging business pain-points.

Recognize and adopt best practices in reporting and analysis: data integrity, test design, analysis, validation, and documentation.

Use Amazon's vast Data Warehouse to explore new opportunities to support the business (Oracle SQL, Microstrategy).

Respond to high priority requests from senior business leaders.

Knowledge & Skills Required

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in a business analyst/data analyst/statistical analysis or a financial related role.

  • Undergraduate degree in business, finance, operations research, operations management, engineering, or a related field.

  • Excellent Excel skills.

  • Experience using SQL, Microstrategy and Statistical tools to conduct analytics and build models using large, distributed data sets.

  • Knowledge of data warehousing & modeling concepts and any BI tools development experience.

  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills and an ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams.

  • Preferably multi-lingual (Japanese or Chinese, with at least business level proficiency in English).

Preferred Qualifications

  • The ideal candidate would have excellent analytical abilities, strong technical skills, superior written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to influence and lead cross-functional teams. S/he would be a self-starter, comfortable with ambiguity, able to think big (while paying careful attention to detail), and enjoy working in a fast-paced dynamic environment. The candidate will be able to lead other analysts from Day One to solve the toughest challenges and drive operational improvement, and also work closely with Customer Support teams and the broader BI and Analytics community.

  • 7+ years of relevant experience in a business analyst/data analyst/statistical analysis or a financial related role.

  • Team leadership within a large scale, data driven environment, in or supporting a Retail, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Transportation, General Management or Engineering function

  • MBA or advanced degree (M.S/PhD) in a quantitative field (engineering, economics, math, stats, operations research, finance).

  • Good knowledge of SQL, Oracle and Statistical suites.

  • Knowledge of data warehousing & modeling concepts and any BI tools development experience.

  • Knowledge and direct experience using business intelligence reporting tools. (OBIEE, Business Objects, Cognos, Tableau, MicroStrategy, SSAS Cubes, etc.).

  • The daily responsibilities may include, working on Ad-hoc deep dives, BI support project(s), change requests, problem tickets, understanding business requirements, help in prioritization of open requests with business, etc.

  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills and an ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams.

  • Preferably multi-lingual (Japanese or Chinese, with a level of proficiency in English).
