PR Manager, Fashion, Strategic Communications in Meguro, Japan

Amazon Fashion, one of Amazon’s fastest growing businesses, is seeking a self-motivated, highly intelligent, high judgement, well-connected public relations professional to join the global communications team in Tokyo, Japan. This individual will help lead visibility public relations initiatives for Amazon Fashion, including Amazon Fashion Week Tokyo, seasonal campaigns, samples and ongoing proactive PR. The role will work closely with the Fashion business team (shoes, bags, apparel, watches and jewelry) and other key stakeholders—marketing, customer experience and international counterparts in the U.S. and Europe. A successful candidate should have demonstrated expertise in fashion and consumer media relations, leadership experience, as well as an entrepreneurial and goal-oriented approach. He/she should be a strategic thinker and enjoy working in a fast-paced, start-up culture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a PR business partner to the community and social shopping leadership team

  • Oversee all strategic press coverage for Amazon Fashion Japan, including proactive coverage, reactive media inquiries

  • Support strategic launches around new fashion innovations

  • Serve as the global liaison with the other international fashion PR managers

  • Write press releases; pitch and secure top media, including print, broadcast and online outlets

  • Build excellent relationships with key media, including fashion/consumer/women’s/men’s magazine editors and writers

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholder teams to drive successful program launches

  • Deliver strategic communications counsel to internal executives on both short and long term challenges and opportunities

  • Develop and manage strategic public relations programs that drive awareness of Amazon Fashion strategy

  • Effectively represent Amazon as spokesperson

  • Management of the PR agency and showroom

  • Successfully manage complex, fast-moving and unexpected communications challenges

  • Minimum of 8 years of public relations experience

  • Background working with consumer or retail companies

  • Experience executing highly successful, creative media relations campaigns

  • Outstanding written and oral English and Japanese skills

  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • Fashion PR experience preferred

  • Have an existing network of mainstream consumer/fashion reporters

  • Possess an outstanding attention to detail
