Amazon.com Senior PR Manager, Consumer in Meguro, Japan

Amazon.co.jp is seeking a highly intelligent, high-judgment, self-motivated and well-connected public relations professional to join the Amazon Japan PR team in Tokyo. Strategically manage proactive and reactive media relations and key influencer relations to drive awareness for Amazon’s retail business teams, including consumer electronics, toys, automotive, home and garden, pets, fashion and consumables. The successful candidate should have demonstrated expertise in media relations, leadership experience, as well as an entrepreneurial and goal-oriented approach. He/she should be a strategic thinker and enjoy working in a fast-paced, start-up culture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a PR business partner to the Amazon retail, fashion and consumer leadership team

  • Oversee and manage all strategic press coverage for these areas, including international and domestic

  • Manage reactive media inquiries

  • Support strategic launches around new shopping innovations

  • Serve as a global liaison for international PR teams when necessary

  • Write press releases; pitch and secure top media, including print, broadcast and online outlets

  • Build excellent relationships with key media

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholder teams to drive successful program launches

  • Deliver strategic communications counsel to internal executives on both short and long term challenges and opportunities

  • Develop and manage strategic public relations programs that drive awareness of Amazon’s core retail strategy

  • Effectively represent Amazon as spokesperson

  • Successfully manage complex, fast-moving and unexpected communications challenges

  • Minimum of 10 years of public relations experience

  • Have excellent written and oral communications skills in English and Japanese

  • Expertise in consumer and retail PR initiatives
