Position Responsibilities\Requirements

The Sales Director (SF&P) will lead the Securities Finance and Processing business in Japan and Korea, with Japan being the primary focus. Based in Tokyo, this role will be responsible for sales and account management of the Apex Securities Finance and Apex Collateral suite of products into new and existing accounts in the Japanese and Korean market place. The role will also work closely with the relationship managers to ensure existing installs are managed and retention plans are executed. Knowledge of the stock borrow lending business and collateral management/ operations space is mandatory.


  • Serving as dedicated sales person in Japan for the Japanese market on securities finance and collateral management systems offered by FIS.

  • Performing mid- to senior-level hunter role covering trading houses, asset managers and banks as targets. Primary focus will be on Japanese houses but does not exclude foreign houses.

  • Reporting to one of Sales Directors (based in Singapore or Hong Kong) under Managing Director, Treasury, Risk, Securities Finance & Processing, Capital Markets, Asia Pacific (based in Singapore).

  • Performing as direct contributor (no team members below initially) with sales manager experience selling products to banks or brokers.

  • Initially, 90% of work will be focused in Japan and 10% in Korea.

  • More business focused than technology focused --- FIS products are sold to domain specialists, not technology specialists.


  • Experience working in, and/ or offering services to, stock borrow lending business and collateral management. Understanding of regulations about collateral management is necessary.

  • Experience in a similar role at competitor technology companies (e.g. IBM Sentry, NRI, Murex, Calypso) or stock borrow and lending operations at banks (e.g. Japanese and non-Japanese financial institutions).

  • Native Japanese and fluent English communication skill, working in multi-cultural and bilingual business environment, to cover Japanese clients as well as to effectively communicate with FIS internal stakeholders. Japanese language is mandatory.

  • Ability to network, establish and maintain relationship with C-Level clients (priority is more on business decision makers and less on Chief Information Officers) in order to obtain information on their business direction and mid-/long-term business plans.

  • Knowledge of business and decision making process at major Japanese financial institutions, securities companies in particular.

  • Understanding of the securities industry and market segment in which key accounts are situated, and integrates this knowledge into consultative selling.

  • Cultivates and maintains positive relationships with customers to ensure account retention and growth, and positions FIS as the preferred vendor for meeting all business needs.

  • Establishes a professional working relationship, up to the executive level, with the client.

  • Account planning and accurate account revenue forecasting skills.
