Join a global, virtual team that launches new features to customers twice a week on its enterprise SaaS platform (Ruby on Rails) used by tens of thousands of scientists and researchers across the globe daily. You will have responsibility for managing a remote team of 3-8 developers responsible for building and maintaining features for a portion of our SaaS offering. You will lead your team through all stages of the software development process: development, testing, bug fixing, deployment, enhancements, and performance optimization. Your responsibilities will include:
Tasking, mentoring and managing developers with a range of skill levels and specialities
Building strong relationships with product management and test teams to support a strong cross-functional team
Ensuring standard processes are followed by all team members
Managing risk while ensuring an aggressive release pace
Communicating status, goals and expectations clearly throughout the team
Supporting your team technically by taking on senior development tasks such as reviewing code and helping developers troubleshoot problems.
Implement features as time allows with performant, maintainable code that is easy to read and well-documented
Writing automated tests to thoroughly validate the correctness of your code
Working independently and collaboratively in a dynamic and fast moving team
Bachelors or Master Degree or University Degree or equivalent.
Minimum of 4+ years of relevant experience.
At least 1-2 years experience managing a software development team of at least 3 people delivering production releases.
Demonstrated capability and at least 3+ years experience with Ruby on Rails (ideally with an enterprise SaaS product)
Background in MVC Design and Architecture
Worked with an application that has continuous deployment/integration testing/release processes
Full stack web development experience
SQL database experience/knowledge
Experience performing code reviews, enforcing coding standards and development processes, mentoring junior developers and managing technical resources within project schedules
Experience designing with RSpec, TDD and CI environments
Experience working with GIT
